Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park
Objective: Restoration of a calibrated meandering riverbed that promotes flood overflows and wetland regeneration, following the backfilling of the straightened riverbed and side channels.
After clearing the existing vegetation, a 70-meter access path was constructed using reinforced wood panels to allow for vehicle traffic. The earthwork consisted of leveling the embankment and excavating the natural ground to remove 500 m³ of spoil, followed by the digging of a new guide channel over 472 m with dead spruce wattle reinforcement.
The channels were filled with 500 m³ of material from the earthworks, supplemented by 450 m³ of material brought in from outside. To structure the new watercourse, 24 m³ of bed foundations were installed, followed by a sediment replenishment using materials. The placement of dead wood collected on-site completed the project, diversifying aquatic habitats and promoting the river’s natural dynamics.
