Project Management and Construction Management

Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park

Objective: To restore the function of the watercourse and alluvial wetlands in accordance with the conservation objectives of the "Grandvaux" Natura 2000 site.

Work began with the grinding and removal of stumps across 1 hectare of dense willow grove. The re-meandering of the Lemme River over a 2,000-meter stretch and of a tributary over an 800-meter stretch restored the original course identified through aerial remote sensing and cadastral surveys. The new riverbed was intentionally excavated to be undersized with vertical banks to allow for gradual natural erosion.

The old channels were eliminated by filling in 1,500 meters of drainage ditches and 5,500 cubic meters of straightened riverbeds, along with the installation of 65 dry gabions and the selective addition of 50 tons of gravel and small boulders to shape the new watercourse.
